“To act coolly, intelligently and prudently in perilous circumstances is the test of a man—and also a nation.”
Adlai E. Stevenson
Dear Advisors and Delegates,
We are pleased to invite your school to our tenth Stevenson Model U.N. Conference, and welcome all of our new and returning friends. After taking a year off from SMUNC, we are excited to be hosting once again, and hope you will join us in October to kick off the conference season.
In keeping with our tradition of offering a local, one-day conference, we will host approximately 170 delegates and 10 schools. Our committee chairs, moderators, and press corps have rich Model U.N. experiences, and they will work hard to develop strong background papers. They are prepared to bring delegates a stimulating and rewarding conference.
SMUNC has worked well in past years as a low-stress, one-day event aimed at serving the needs of students new to Model U.N. It is in this spirit of learning that we encourage advisors to select double delegations that pair experienced members with new members for most of our committees.
Registration for SMUNC is currently open at our team website: shsmun.com, and will close on September 9th. Please reserve your spot early to avoid being placed on a waiting list. Additional information, including background papers and conference itinerary will be available on the website in mid-August. In addition, the website will contain delegate information, awards criteria, the committee/country master list, and other pertinent details. Delegate fees will be accepted at conference registration.
Look forward to an educational and stimulating conference with food and friends. Please contact one of the advisors below with questions about SMUNC. Hope to hear from you all very soon!
Best Regards,
The SHS MUN Advisors
